Nominations of Officers and Directors for the year 2010, will be finalized at the Nov. meeting and voting will take place for those positions that have more nominations than the required number. Reservations and raffle tickets for our Annual Installation Dinner at Francesco’s Restaurant in Oakland, set for Saturday December 12th are slowly trickling in and if you haven’t sent them in yet, please don’t delay. We have a commitment of 50, so invite relatives and friends for a very enjoyable evening, where everyone goes home with a gift.
The last remaining event for the year is scheduled for Saturday November 14th, when Hap Gladstone will be chairing the popular Annual Turkey Shoot at Chabot Gun Club Range, with prizes to be given away to the good and “lucky” shooters. The range charge will be about $12 per shooter. If you have never attended one of these shoots, this is a fun event where we will be using a 22 caliber rifle, shooting from 50 yd., taking two turns. Once using bare sights at a 17 x 22 in. target, while the second turn using rifle with scope at a 8 1/2 x 11 target. Targets have 5 animal silhouettes with a red dot placed on them, while on the reverse side of these targets, the “Luck Target” side, numbers from 0-9 have been randomly placed in 1” squares. Each shooter will be given 10 shots at the front side of this target. When through shooting, every animal hit will count 5 points , with only 2 shot per animal counting and only 1 point extra for shots landing on the red dot for a maximum of 55 points. The target is then turned over to the “Luck Target” side and number in squares in which all shots land are added up. If a shot breaks the line that separates two numbers, BOTH numbers are counted; if a shot should land in the corner where four squares join, ALL FOUR numbers are counted. The points scored for animals hit and the luck numbers total will be kept separate. In the event of tie animal scores, the scores from the reverse side of the target will be used to break the tie. When all shooting ends, the top scores for animals and numbers, will win prizes. The first prize in either category will win a $15 merchandize order from a major Supermarket store! A shooter can only win a prize in one category. As you can see, you can win without being a sharp shooter! Directions to the Target Range follow. Come along and bring a friend to this fun event. Hap forwards the following: “I will furnish rifles & ammo. If you have 22 rifles you want to shoot and share, bring 'em along.” Plan to be there by 9 am. For reservations, call Chairman Hap Gladstone at (925) 284-7839. ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- What Dogs do for us
Catch Frisbees
Keep a night alone from being truly lonely
Get us outside on beautiful fall days, rainy days and snowy winter days
Listen to our singing
Treat us like celebrities when we come home
Warm up our beds on cold nights
Make our hearts more vigorous
Alert us to the arrival of mail
Help us live a little longer
Make us smile
Agree with everything we say
Warm our knees with their chins
Provide a use for old tennis balls
Signal when a thunderstorm is coming
Pull sleds
Help lower our blood pressure
Test how fast we can run
Keep the squirrels from overtaking our yards
Teach us the meaning of unconditional love. ======================================================
Happy Halloween and Trick or Treating to all.
Keeping in mind all the great things we are to be thankful for, the Officers and Directors of this club, wish you and your families a Happy Thanksgiving!
See you all at the China Wall Buffet Restaurant in Dublin on Nov. 4th!
